Just a small victory this week..... I have been searching for the perfect coffee table for my living room for about six months. I have been tempted many times to settle for "almost perfect" but I've held out. I was searching for something very specific. Rectangular, brass, inset glass top, and clean lines was all I was asking for. I don't ask for much.....
The super talented Mr. Goodwill Hunting (Rashon Carraway) found this amazing coffee table at the Salvation Army for $30! He featured it on the Nate Berkus show where he re-did a woman's living room for under $300. It has been saved in my inspiration files, and I was looking for something really similar.
Last week on Craigslist, a lovely gentleman named Jim posted the perfect coffee table for $15 at around 7:00 p.m., and by 10:00 the next morning it was loaded up and headed home with me. I talked Mia and my sister Erica into going along for the adventure. It didn't take much convincing. I'm really sad I didn't take my camera, because that wasn't all we came home with! In true Jilly and Mia fashion, we went looking for nothing, and came home with an entire van full of treasures we couldn't say no to!
This is how it started out. Really, not that bad, but I didn't want it quite that brassy.
I sprayed it down with two coats of Rustoleum Antique Brass Metallic.
Brought it back inside, set the beveled glass insert in, and accessorized a bit. Please help me welcome the newest member of our family!
In the background is a sneak peek of the Craigslist couch I snatched up for a mere $40 and am almost done with....a year later.
