no sew bow tie
Three days after the Nino arrived, we set off bright and early to get re-acquainted with Jesus. I know Jesus and the Nino were special friends before he came to earth, but he might have forgotten about their connection over the past six, long years.
I wanted him to have something to wear just special for church every Sunday while he sang songs and listened to Bible stories in Primary.
My next door neighbor's little boy is always dressed to the nines and occasionally sports a bow tie. I called her right over and she graciously helped me make the Nino a collection of his very own. Amazingly, they each took less then 10 minutes to whip up.
I hunted down some inexpensive ties at the GW on half price Saturday. They're every other week in case you didn't get the memo. I don't miss 'em.
I cut the skinny end of the tie off at approx 14"
Then I folded the raw edge over and glued it shut.
I measured and cut approx 12" of elastic.
And whipped it together with a few stitches. Alright, so there's a tiny bit of sewing involved. If you don't know how to thread a needle or tie a knot, go find the oldest lady you know. She'll be happy to help.
I folded the tie in 3rds and put a tiny dab of glue in the center of each layer (I could have sworn I had a picture of this)
Then I cut a 3" piece from the original tie, wrapped it around the front of the folded tie, and around the elastic band in back.
Here's what the back looks like
And here's the front.
Freakishly cute, wouldn't you say?
The Nino just lost another tooth. He's never been so pleased to get to sleep. I wish he could loose a tooth every day.
LOL!! The last part was so funny!! Now I can't wait for my kids to lose their teeth!!
